In DNS, we train teachers with all necessary knowledge and skills for confronting and approaching real challenges and the realities of our world. It's not an easy job and many times our students are challenged in ways that they never considered before. If you want to understand more and if you are up for it, than you can join our collective.
COMPANY DESCRIPTION:
DNS Tvind- The Necessary Teacher Training College is a private school in Denmark which trained many generations of teachers since 1973. We approach learning in an alternative way, way which by on-tradional practices prepares future teachers for deep understanding of life, ocial realities and facing any kind of challenge that can further arise.
The education at DNS is not just based on studies in a classroom, but studies and investigations around the world. We buy buses, transform them in study rooms, bedrooms and kitchens and we visit developing countries because we want to get close to the local people, to experience for ourselves what life is like for them. DNS prides itself on the unconventional “learning by doing” atitude and for extreme and challenging flexibilty.
We bellieve that education should never be conditioned by the economic situation of the student. This is why our collective is built out of people from different cultural and financial backgrounds which come to study together. Even though DNS is a private institution, the 3 year program includes set periods for “saving up” so that no student would be conditioned, in personal education, by any financial situation.
Among others, the program includes:
- 4 months study travel in own bus through the Sahara desert to Nigeria
- 6 months investigations and working in an European city running cultural and political programs
- 3 months of “doing what you find it most appropriate to do- choose a place in the world and go for it”
- 8 months teaching practice in Denmark or Europe
In completion of the education, the student will acquire a bachelor's degree in pedagogy, which will enable him/ her to work in primary schools and lower secondary schools, or development projects worldwide. The education is in English.
